Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA ) is a complex disorder characterised by interruptions in breathing, during sleep. Airflow into and out of the lungs is reduced or ceased for a period of seconds to a few minutes, due to closure (obstruction) of the upper airway, despite continued respiratory effort.
Central Sleep Apnoea (CSA) a disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. Central sleep apnoea occurs because the brain (CNS - central nervous system) doesn't send proper signals to the muscles that control breathing.
